Depth and Flow From Motion Energy

چکیده

This paper presents a model of motion perception that utilizes the output of motion-sensitive spatiotemporal filters. The power spectrum of a moving texture occupies a tilted plane in the spatiotemporal-frequency domain. The model uses 3-D (space-time) Gabor filters to sample this power spectrum. By combining the outputs of several such filters, the model estimates the velocity of the moving texture without first computing component (or normal) velocity. A parallel implementation of the model encodes velocity as the peak in a distribution of velocitysensitive units. For a fixed 3-D rigid-body motion, depth values parameterize a line through image-velocity space. The model estimates depth by finding the peak in the distribution of velocity-sensitive units lying along this line. In this way, depth and velocity are simultaneously extracted.

Analysis of Kinetic Chain Mechanism Affecting Energy Flow in Kick Topspin Tennis Serve in Elite and Amateur Tennis Players

Background. Effective kick-topspin serving in tennis requires power to transfer mechanical energy through a kinematic chain from different parts of the body that is directly related to the kinetics of the joints. Energy flow analysis is a powerful tool for observing the mechanical energy transfer through the body parts. Objectives. This research aimed to study the correlation and predictive ab...

Numerical Investigation of Island Effects on Depth Averaged Fluctuating Flow in the Persian Gulf

In the present paper simulation of tidal currents on three-dimensional geometry of the Persian Gulf is performed by the solution of the depth averaged hydrodynamics equations. The numerical solution was applied on two types of discritized simulation domain (Persian Gulf); with and without major islands. The hydrodynamic model utilized in this work is formed by equations of continuity and motion...

Depth information in natural environments derived from optic flow by insect motion detection system: a model analysis

Knowing the depth structure of the environment is crucial for moving animals in many behavioral contexts, such as collision avoidance, targeting objects, or spatial navigation. An important source of depth information is motion parallax. This powerful cue is generated on the eyes during translatory self-motion with the retinal images of nearby objects moving faster than those of distant ones. T...

Numerical Investigation of Vortex Interaction in Pipe Flow

To discover the nonlinear characteristics of pipe flow, we simulated the flow as a sum of many vortex rings. As a first step, we investigated the nonlinear interaction among a maximum of three vortex rings. The pipe wall was replaced by many bound vortices. A free vortex ring moves right or left according to the radius, and that of a particular radius keeps the initial position. The energy of a...

Derivation of turbulent energy of fiber suspensions

The energy equation for turbulent flow of fiber suspensions was derived in terms of second order correlation tensors. Fiber motion of turbulent energy including the correlation between pressure fluctuations and velocity fluctuations was discussed at two points of flow field, at which the correlation tensors were the functions of space coordinates, distance between two points, and time.

The kinetic depth effect and optic flow--II. First- and second-order motion.

We use a difficult shape identification task to analyze how humans extract 3D surface structure from dynamic 2D stimuli--the kinetic depth effect (KDE). Stimuli composed of luminous tokens moving on a less luminous background yield accurate 3D shape identification regardless of the particular token used (either dots, lines, or disks). These displays stimulate both the 1st-order (Fourier-energy)...
